Theory of solid solution strengthening of BCC Chemically Complex Alloys

چکیده
An analytic model describing substitutional solid solution strengthening in body-centered cubic (BCC) complex, concentrated alloys (CCAs) based on a/2<111> screw dislocation mobility is developed and presented. At lower temperatures it assumed that dipole dragging the rate limiting mechanism, as temperature increases this changes to a jog mechanism. While both mechanisms are contained Suzuki's classical for BCC significant modifications required apply such refractory CCA's. First, two approaches incorporating net effects of complex solute chemistry contrasted using ternary NbTaTi alloy four quaternary alloys, MoNbTaTi, WNbTaTi, CrMoNbTi CrMoTaTi . Our extended higher applied analyze experimental yield data function (0.15–0.7TL, where TL absolute liquidus temperature) strain (10?5 10?2/s) range chemically including stoichiometric NbTiZr HfNbTaTiZr. We find model, just these mechanisms, gives excellent agreement with CCAs, The CCA's well quaternaries also analyzed Maresca's edge types alloys. presented useful predicting CCAs adequate high strength, which will accelerate development temperature, strength aerospace applications.

Construction of Deformation - Mechanism Maps for Metals and Solid Solution Alloys a New Approach
A new approach has been introduced to construct deformation-mechanism maps for metals and solid solution alloys. For this purpose two computer programs named DEFOR and GRAPH have been written in BASIC to be run on IBM compatible personal computers. Using these programs, deformation - mechanism maps for a number of pure metals and a solid solution alloy (Ti-6wt% Al) have been plotted and effects...
متن کاملEnhanced solid solution effects on the strength of nanocrystalline alloys
Solid solution strengthening in nanocrystalline alloys is studied using sputtered Ni–W as a model system. In the composition range of 0–20 at.% W, the sputtered alloys have a nanocrystalline structure with a grain size that is independent of composition. Nanoindentation of these alloys shows that solute addition increases strength to very high levels, almost in proportion to the solute content....
متن کاملFriction and solid-solid adhesion on complex metallic alloys
The discovery in 1987 of stable quasicrystals in the Al-Cu-Fe system was soon exploited to patent specific coatings that showed reduced friction in ambient air against hard antagonists. Henceforth, it was possible to develop a number of applications, potential or commercially exploited to date, that will be alluded to in this topical review. A deeper understanding of the characteristics of comp...

متن کاملWetting phenomena in bcc binary alloys
The wetting behavior at the free (100) surface of a bcc binary alloy exhibiting a continuous order-disorder transition in the bulk is investigated theoretically, using a model equivalent to a bcc Ising antiferromagnet in an external magnetic field. Its salient feature is the generation of an effective ordering surface field , g1 6= 0, for certain symmetry-breaking surface orientations like (100...
